After participating in the world’s biggest and most prestigious energy conference as a Partner Sponsor, it was easy to see why CERAWeek 2012 in Houston, Texas, was the perfect venue for getting the message out about Celanese TCX® Technology.

The conference was a major step forward for Celanese and our TCX® Technology as we joined energy industry executives and government leaders from around the world; and once the week began, we knew we were right in the middle of a major movement in the energy industry.

The most prominent theme of the conference was how the U.S. will use its vast sources of shale gas to meet the world’s growing demand for transportation fuel. It was this theme that put Celanese TCX® Technology front and center as a “very real, ready now” solution to the world’s growing demand for affordable, high quality, clean transportation fuel.

By the time the week was over, the story of TCX® Technology was buzzing throughout the conference thanks to the many opportunities we had to share our message, including:

  • Steven Sterin, Celanese CFO and President of Advanced Fuel Technologies (AFT), was a featured panelist on the topic of “The Promise of New Liquid Fuels: The Strategies Needed to Navigate through a Growing Competitive Playing Field,” and also spoke at a session about “Moderating Chinese Oil Demand: What are the Roles of Substitutes.”
  • John Fotheringham, General Manager of AFT, was a featured panelist at the “Fuels vs. Feedstocks: Petrochemicals and Energy” session.
  • Tao Wang, Global Technical Director, Celanese TCX®, was a featured speaker at CERA’s Pioneers event where the merits of TCX® Technology were validated in a public discussion of credible technologies to help meet the world’s growing liquid fuel demand.

To top it off, Celanese spoke to 15 major media outlets, including PBS Nightly Business Report, Forbes Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and CNBC, where our TCX® Technology message was taken even further by the resulting stories these media produced. From my perspective, the chemical industry is critical to finding solutions to the challenges of economic growth, jobs and energy security. TCX® Technology is a uniquely innovative ethanol production process that leverages Celanese chemistry and expertise to help meet growing global transportation fuel needs.
